LinkCapture

LinkCapture is designed to work primarily on your device: URL extraction, your bookmarks, and your images stay on your iPhone or iPad. The free version shows banner ads provided by Google AdMob, which involves the limited data sharing described below. This policy explains what the app accesses, what the ads involve, and why.

Summary

No account, no sign-up. You can use LinkCapture without providing any personal information.
Your content stays on your device. URL extraction, bookmarks, notes, and saved thumbnails never leave your iPhone or iPad, and we operate no servers that collect them.
Ads in the free version. LinkCapture is free with banner ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier to show ads; you control this through the App Tracking Transparency prompt. A LinkCapture Pro subscription removes all ads.
No other tracking or analytics. Apart from the Google AdMob advertising SDK, the app contains no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.
Site icons load from each website. To show an icon next to a link, the app can download it directly from that website — never a third-party icon service (see "Site icons").

What the app accesses

Images and photos. When you choose an image from your photo library, take a photo, or paste from the clipboard, LinkCapture reads that image only to detect URLs within it, using Apple's on-device text recognition (the Vision framework). Image analysis happens locally; images are not uploaded anywhere.

Deleting a source photo. If you choose "Delete source image" after extracting a link, LinkCapture asks the system to delete that photo from your library. iOS shows its own confirmation before anything is removed. LinkCapture never deletes photos without your explicit choice.

Locally stored thumbnails. If a bookmark keeps a thumbnail, a small compressed copy is stored in the app's private Documents folder on your device. It is removed when you delete the bookmark.

Bookmarks. Your saved URLs, categories, and notes are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. They are included in your device and iCloud backups if you have backups enabled, and are otherwise not transmitted by the app.

Advertising

The free version of LinkCapture displays banner ads provided by Google AdMob, a Google service. To request and show ads, the AdMob SDK may collect and process certain information from your device, such as your device's advertising identifier (IDFA), coarse device and ad-interaction data, and your IP address. We do not share your bookmarks, notes, extracted links, or images with AdMob or any advertiser — only the standard ad-request information the SDK generates.

When you first launch the app, iOS presents the App Tracking Transparency prompt, asking whether LinkCapture may track you across other companies' apps and websites:

If you allow tracking, AdMob may use your advertising identifier to show more relevant (personalized) ads.
If you don't allow tracking, AdMob serves non-personalized ads and does not use your advertising identifier to track you.

You can change this choice at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, where you can also reset your advertising identifier.

Google's handling of data collected through AdMob is governed by Google's Privacy Policy and "How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services".

LinkCapture Pro removes ads. While a Pro subscription is active, no ads are shown and the app does not request them.

Opening links

When you open a saved link, it opens in an in-app Safari view or your browser. From that point, the destination website's own privacy practices apply. LinkCapture does not track which links you open.

Site icons

To display a small icon (favicon) next to each saved link, LinkCapture can download that icon directly from the website itself — for example, the icon for a github.com link is requested from github.com. No third-party icon service is used, and only the icon is requested; your bookmarks, notes, and images are never sent. On first launch the app pre-loads icons for a short, fixed list of well-known websites built into the app, so common links look right immediately; this list does not depend on your bookmarks. For your own saved links, LinkCapture does not contact those websites automatically — their icons are fetched only when you tap "Refresh Favicon" on a link or "Fetch Link Icons" in Settings. Downloaded icons are cached on your device. As when opening a link, any website contacted this way receives a standard web request (including your IP address) and its own privacy practices apply; links without an available icon simply show colored initials.

Purchases

Extraction packs and the LinkCapture Pro subscription are sold as in-app purchases processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. LinkCapture Pro is an auto-renewable monthly subscription; it renews automatically until canceled, and you can manage or cancel it in your Apple Account settings. LinkCapture does not receive or store your payment information. Purchase handling is governed by Apple's terms and privacy policy.

Permissions you may be asked for

Photo Library — to select images for extraction and, if you choose, to delete a source photo.
Camera — to photograph content containing a link.
Tracking — to allow personalized ads through Google AdMob (optional; you may decline and still use the app).

You can change these permissions at any time in the iOS Settings app.

Children's privacy

LinkCapture is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Any ads shown are served in accordance with Google AdMob's policies.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be provided with a new "Last updated" date.
